Dave Glorioso
My name is David Glorioso and I am twenty four years old. I grew up in Staten Island with my parents and two
brothers. Inspired and taught by my father, I started playing the drums at the age of eight. Around the same time I also
decided to take up the guitar due to influences such as Bon Jovi and Huey Lewis.I kept my interests in these instruments
all the way through High School. I was at the time interested in rock bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Fear factory, Faith
no More Pantera Tool and all of the above in that realm.I was in plenty of garage bands, making noise all through out
high school. There were two bands I was a part of that are worth remembering. First was a band called Mad Prophet
which consisted of myself, Marcus Gershman and Michael Nunes. The second band was a cover band called Father G
that i just plainly had alot of fun with. That band consisted of my cousin Chris Glorioso, Andy Graziano, and Mr. Willson.
With no formal training, at the age of twenty one I decided to attend a privately owned music school by the name of Dr.
Trogan's Music School. I remained there and studied personally with Dr. Roland Trogan, PHD in composition from the
University of Michigan. Trogan has studied personally with two great twentieth century composers, Ross Finney and
Roger Sessions from Princeton University. Through Trogan, I met my other teacher and friend Dr John Kelleher, Ph.D in
theory/ musicology form the University of Columbia. Of the many professors Dr. Kelleher has studied with, he had
studied with Patricia Carpenter, a student of Arnold Schoenberg. Currently I am employed at the music school as a full
time theory teacher. I mainly cover harmony of the Baroque and Classical Period. Piano and violin are now the two
strong going instruments in my life. Lessons with my mentors are still ongoing. My music interests have since drastically
changed with my new found ongoing education.I enjoy listening to composers such as Bela Bartok, Schoenberg,
Schostakovich, Berg, Webern, Moller, Trogan Rachmaninoff,Beethoven, Mozart, Ravel and much more. I also attend
Staten Island College to pursue a degree in music. My plan is to eventually transfer to Brooklyn college and maybe in
time obtain a degree in composition from a good graduate school. I love music and my overall goal is to never stop
learning about it.
Adam's music has never ceased to amaze me. From asking me questions like "what makes a guitar more expensive
than another" to rewiring a Fender Jaguar in front of me, Adam has taken his music to heights I never though possible. I
can remember fondly, the night on 59th street when Adam asked me if I would consider playing music with him. He as a
singer/lyricist and I as an instumentalist of all sorts. After a dramatic revision of this idea in December of 2004, I feel
proud and privileged to be a part of the project that Adam has put together now. I can't be more excited about Grey
Garden and it's incredible potential to offer to the popular culture a serious rude awakening about good music with a
unique sound. I have nothing but faith and respect for this project and with my musical background, I believe that I can
add a good element to Grey Garden.
